The tie for Spring Valley Village Justice was broken by just one vote Wednesday. Susan Smith won the Democratic Party line, with one vote more than her opponent Djinsad Desir, after both received 872 votes at the September 10th primary last month. The Democratic Party members were set to decide the winner at an emergency meeting on Monday, but the State Supreme Court stated that a senior citizen claimed an unknown signature on an absentee ballot and voter registration card. On Wednesday Judge James Brands decided that the ballot was to be counted in the vote. In the November 5th General Election Smith will face Desir who is running on the Republican, Conservative, Rorking Families, Independence, and Green Party lines.
