Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski released a statement that he will begin a legislation that requires all print, internet, television and radio campaign advertisements include the statement “paid for by” and the name of the sender. According to federal law the disclosure is currently only required for TV and radio ads. Zebrowksi’s legislation would change state law and determine fines and penalties for ads sent out without the proper identification. In the release Zebrowski stated, “Candidates and political committees should not be allowed to hide behind negative and faceless ads.” In the past months campaigning season has gotten dirty with various anonymous negative mailings being sent out to Democrats throughout the county. Zebrowski stated that he feels voters should have the opportunity to be presented with open and fair campaigns so they can see exactly what candidates stand for.
