According to Suffern Police Chief, Clarke Osborn, a fire broke out at a Suffern home yesterday morning. Police responded to the call at 10:45 AM, and were forced to break the door in, but could not enter the building due to the smoke and flames. Firefighters from the Mahwah, Suffern, and Tallman departments arrived shortly after and entered the building to put out the fire, and make sure the property was empty. According to Suffern Fire Chief Michael Stark, no one was home at the residence, which was undergoing renovations and the police and fire departments later discovered that the fire was started from the stove in the kitchen, though official cause remains under investigation. He also stated that one of the volunteers suffered minor injuries to his hand and was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital.
