A Haverstraw man was arrested on charges of conspiring to engage in the sex trafficking of a minor from a case in the summer of 2011. The U.S. District Attorney’s office stated Wednesday that Wilbur Senat, 23 of Haverstraw, met the 15 year old girl, whose name was not mentioned in reports, when she was staying with relatives in Haverstraw and forced her to have sex with strangers in a Nyack hotel. According to the victim, she was taken to Pennsylvania and kept in the basement of a home, where she was held as a sex slave for four men, who used her to make money. The girl, from Tennessee stated that the men Varian Charles, Karl Vernod, Samuel Verrier, and Senat moved her to New Jersey and physically abused her and threatened her family if she did not continue having sex with men that they chose, including a situation where they wanted photographs to use as blackmail. Two of the men are being held in Newark and were set to appear in Federal Court there on Wednesday. Senat appeared in Newark court on August 6th and has been detained there since.
