The town of Ramapo has agreed to allow a 44 unit subdivision unit to be built on property owned by temple Beth El. The temple, which has seen a decrease in its congregation, is looking to sell 5.5 acres to a developer to fund repairs and make the building more energy efficient. The town board voted Wednesday night, on zoning changes for the area, ensuring that the future subdivision will have a sufficient visual and sound barrier between neighboring buildings. The project must now be voted on by the planning and zoning boards to make the final decision on whether or not the 44 housing units will be built in the vacant property directly across from Ramapo High School.
