DA Zugibe Appointed to Anti-Corruption Panel

Governor Andrew Cuomo and State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman have appointed Rockland County District Attorney Tom Zugibe, Tuesday,  to join a commission of 25 district attorneys, lawmakers and academics in an anti-corruption panel.

The panel will be in charge of investigating New York’s political system by making recommendations on how to improve the state’s corruption laws and enforcement.

With this rare alliance between Cuomo and Schneiderman, not only will the panel be able to investigate the executive branch, issue subpoenas and compel testimony under the Moreland Act, but will also be able to name commission members Deputy Attorney Generals giving them wide reaching jurisdiction.

This will give the panel free reign to investigate nearly any level of state or local government.
