No Confirmation on What Caused Nyack College Explosion

South Nyack-Grandview Police continue to investigate the cause of the explosion at Nyack College.  Top officials in the department are still not able to tell what the cause of the accident was.

On June 4, five college employees and two students were injured in an explosion at Sky Island Lodge on the college’s campus.  No one was seriously injured.  That same night Orange and Rockland Utilities said it found evidence of fresh excavation work on the grounf above the 2-inch pipe they found that may have been struck and pulled by heavy equiptment.

Nyack Police Chief Brent Newbury said that the nyack college groundskeepers could have caused the pipe break but that the department is also looking at other causes.
